Dial H-I-S-T-O-R-Y
1997, Johan Grimonprez, Belgium/France, 70 min.
Tuesday, October 19, 6:15 pm (Gene Siskel Film Center)

Buckle up for DIAL H-I-S-T-O-R-Y, the acclaimed hijacking documentary that eerily foreshadowed 9-11. We meet the romantic skyjackers who fought their revolutions and won airtime on the passenger planes of the 1960's and 1970's. By the 1990's, such characters were apparently no more, replaced on our TV screens by stories of anonymous bombs in suitcases. Director Johan Grimonprez investigates the politics behind this change, at the same time unwrapping our own complicity in the urge for ultimate disaster.

LIBERTY BOUND
2004, Christine Rose, USA, 90 min.
Tuesday, October 19, 7:45 pm (Gene Siskel Film Center)

A US Citizen's journey of discovery into the lies, oppression, and corruption that has invaded her country since 9/11. Liberty Bound takes an entertaining look at America’s ongoing struggle to keep a comfortable balance between democracy, capitalism, and fascism. This film investigates historic events that shape history. It is a film about courage and fear; ignorance and knowledge; propaganda and rhetoric.
